When it’s
desired to allow Booster to start running beam to the Booster Dump, but PREVENT
beam to Main Injector, such as after a shutdown and Booster is ready to turn
back on but Main Injector is not, then do the following:
Coordinate
with the Interlocks Group. They will
look at panel near linac-booster junction and confirm
that the beam stop is CLOSED.
Once
Interlocks personnel have confirmed that the BS809 beam stop is CLOSED, then
the RSO should PUSH THE BS809 Power BUTTON IN and CLOSE AND LOCK the HASP over
the button. Pushing the button in and
locking it off takes power away from the beam stop, so that it cannot be moved
once Interlocks has confirmed it is in the CLOSED position.
Go to
Booster Tower WEST about halfway down and look for this button. Put an RSO Lock onto BS809.
This is the beam stop that must be locked in the CLOSED position. This beam stop INHIBITS beam from getting to
the Main Injector from Booster.
There is a
RUN CONDITION that allows Booster to OPERATE in a DUMP ONLY MODE. If coming out of a shutdown, all permits and
run conditions need to be re-done and re-issued.
When Main
Injector is READY for BEAM, the RSO Lock may be removed and the button PULLED
out to restore power to the BEAM STOP BS809.
